"Going... One Step Beyond"!

6 Vintage Episodes of "One Step Beyond" With Other Bonus Spine Tingling Promo Reels!

"Outside the known is irreality, and one step beyond that is Surrealism." To a viewing audience just set on the edge of their seats by a movie decade that was focused on the horror and sci-fi films of the '50s, "One Step Beyond" was a welcomed jaunt into the supernatural. From it's air date in January 1959 to it's final episode in October 1961 John Newland introduced reported cases of supernatural phenomena. Following John's insightful and foreboding intros, the poetry of the true stories were revealed in magnificent and almost brutally compressed dramatizations. One Step Beyond was mainly filmed at M-G-M Studios, Hollywood, and partly at M-G-M British Studios, Borehamwood, Herts. Although Rod Serling's outre yet moral tales within "The Twilight Zone" was often thought of as the first horror / supernatural series, that's not true. "One Step Beyond" premiered nine months before The Twilight Zone, and was also known as "Alcoa Presents: One Step Beyond". All episodes were directed by Newland himself, a dab hand whose trademark is subtle, balletic camera work. Don't miss out on your chance to own six episodes of this classic, true, and spine tingling series! That's THREE HOURS WORTH! Episodes included are:

But Wait... There's MORE!

Yes, there's even MORE! Now you can get a free special bonus! Long before shows like "The Twilight Zone", "Tales of Tomorrow", and "One Step Beyond" statisfied the audiences' appetite for horror and the macabre.. even long before TV itself... there was radio with audio fright old time radio shows like "Lights Out". "Lights Out" epitomized the unique style of radio drama developed in the Merchandise Mart studios. Its horrific plots were enhanced by creative sound-effects that reproduced the crushing of skulls, the severing of digits and the eating of flesh. "Lights Out" first aired locally in Chicago (over NBC's owned-and-operated WENR) from January 1st to April 10th of 1934 as a fifteen-minute program. From April 17th of 1935 until August 16th, 1939 "Lights Out" was carried by the NBC network. Supplementing Chicago's skilled corps of radio actors in the spring of 1938, Boris Karloff even took his place behind the mic when he journeyed to the Windy City to appear on five episodes of the show. CBS revived "Lights Out" in 1942-43 and later NBC brought the series back as a New York-based summer replacement in 1945.

But "Lights Out" wasn't the only early radio horror melodrama by any means! "A Witch's Tale" which began regionally on WOR radio in New York, was one of the earliest of the horror genre shows. It also helped begin a trend in creepy hosts that "lives" on to this day in popular entertainment. "Old Nancy, the witch of Salem," was the cackling host of the show originally played by Adelaide Fitz-Allen (pictured below) and she quickly became a favorite of kids in the 1930's, who imitated her quips and cackles. The show enjoyed popularity both the New York regional and Mutual national runs during it's lifespan of 1931 - 1938.

Now, on this rare CD you can experience the fright that only YOUR imagination coupled with these old time radio shows could create! First you get an episode of the terrifying "LIGHT'S OUT" followed by a horrific episode of "A WITCH'S TALE"! Here's what you get:

Lights Out: "Murder Castle" - Aired on CBS on August 3rd, 1943.
A Witch's Tale: "Four Fingers and a Thumb" - Aired in 1939.

AND AS A SPECIAL BONUS TRACK - Hear a 3 min. and 45 second radio skit starring Boris Karloff. As Boris appeared on "Light's Out" a hand full of times it is 'possible' that this skit is from an episode of "Light's Out", but it's show source and original air date has not been able to be confirmed. Boris Karloff plays an odd man who finds his way into a little boys' house. Boris and the boy bond over and glass of milk as the little boy sits on Boris' knee and listens to a story... seem mild mannered enough? Just wait for the twist at the end... Things are never as they seem!

This CD contains a full hour of audio programming... sit in livid fear as you hear these tales of the supernatural come to life in your mind while they're vividly retold. But don't worry, all you really have to fear is fear itself, right? Or so you'd like to believe....
