Jean and Bill are a struggling married couple with Bill trying to scrape a living as a writer. Out of the blue they receive a telegram informing them that Bill's long-lost uncle has died and left them his business - a cinema in the town of Sloughborough. They pack their bags and travel to Sloughborough expecting to sell the cinema to gain a huge inheritance, however, they discover the cinema is falling apart and is run by a comically incompetant staff who seem to have worked there forever. They set out with a plan to sell it but things don't quite go as planned. This classic 1957 British comedy stars Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as the young and naive married couple Jean and Bill. Meanwhile, playing comic to their straight man, the cast is rounded out by British character actors Bernard Miles as Old Tom (The Bijou Janitor), Margaret Rutherford as Mrs. Fazackalee (The Bijou Cashier), and last but certainly not least legend Peter Sellers as Percy Quill (The Bijou Projectionist). Also titled "Big Time Operators" in 1957 when released in the US, this UK filmed classic is black and white and runs 81 minutes in length. Peter Sellers gives the performance of a life time in this film, not only side splitting with comedy, but also chocked full of heart warming charm.
